Kudos to Hunt's Ketchup

When consumers speak with their wallet, companies listen. Well at least smart companies do. Hunts is the latest company to remove HFCS from their products. The entire line of Hunt's ketchup's is now HFCS free! Hunts' ketchup now consists of five simple ingredients: tomatoes, vinegar, sugar, salt and other seasonings - no HFCS, artificial ingredients or preservatives. Hunts says that the switch is "in direct response to consumer demand." YEAH!!!

Most Heinz ketchup's still contain HFCS, but they now have two HFCS-free options. The first has been around a while. Heinz Organic Ketchup, a good but expensive ketchup. The second is a new offering. Simply Heinz Tomato Ketchup. The ingredients in Simply Heinz are basically the same as Hunts. No HFCS, artificial ingredients or preservatives.

Cutie Tooties Cloth Diapering Class

I never ever thought I'd cloth diaper. But when my second child was born and money was tight tight. A friend turned me on to it. Now I am a forever fan. My daughter is potty trained now but I have converted many people to it and it is a HUGE money saver in addition to the environmental factors too.

Cinnamon Roll French Toast

Make French toast from left-over or fresh cinnamon rolls. I normally make Cinnamon rolls the night before then do the rest in the morning.

Ingredients
1 large egg
2 tablespoons Unsalted butter, melted, plus extra for frying
3/4 cup Milk
2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
2 tablespoons Sugar
1/3 cup All-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon Salt
Few sprinkles of Cinnamon
4 To 5 cinnamon rolls

Preparation

Beat egg lightly. Whisk in butter, then milk, add vanilla, and finally sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt. Continue whisking until smooth. Cut cinnamon rolls in half and soak each half for a few seconds in batter. Drip off excess batter. Cook in skillet with butter until golden brown on each side.

Serve with warm maple syrup and fresh strawberries or blueberries.

Milk!! Ever Thought about Why we Drink it!

Your mission, if you choose to accept, is to examine, and hopefully improve, the milk your family drinks.

From store brand skim to fresh milk from a local farm and everything in between, the vast array of milk choices is dizzying.

There are those who will tell you adult human beings should not be drinking milk at all.

There are those who will tell you no one should drink milk from a store.

And you can always find someone (or some government entity) to tell you that drinking fresh, unpasteurized milk is like playing Russian roulette.

Then there are the stories of folks surviving for decades consuming no food other than raw cow’s milk, of people who can’t tolerate dairy but can enjoy unpasteurized, grassfed milk without worry.

Plenty of sources will explain that there is no difference between milk treated with rBGH or rBST hormones and milk without, and that grassfed vs. grainfed dairy makes zero difference in nutrition.

And just as many sources laud the praises of unpasteurized, unhomogenized, organic, grassfed milk!
